One of the most common objections I hear from entrepreneurs is that they can’t hire a Virtual Assistant because they don’t have the budget for it.

You might be in the situation where you desperately need help because you’re noticing that some tasks are sucking the joy out of running your own business.

It’s like you’re in a limbo where you want to do something, like for example, be more visible in the Facebook groups, build relationships, get more clients and showcase your expertise. For you to do that, you need to write the content for the blog post and social media posts and schedule the time for calls.

On top of that, you still need to do the graphics and schedule it or post it in other groups, etc… Just the thought of the whole process and everything that needs to be done sucks the life out of you. You’d love to hire someone to help you out, but you can’t get the budget and on the other hand for you to get more income in, you need help. It seems like one of Dante’s circles of hell.

Or maybe you want to create a product and put it out for sale to your audience. You feel overwhelmed by technology and all the things that you need to do prior to that. So, you procrastinate on taking action and creating the product. In return, you don’t get the income you wanted so you can’t invest into getting a Virtual Assistant or any kind of help.

There are many different examples of “sucking-the-joy-out-of-business” tasks that are very different for each entrepreneur.

Ideally, you’d like to hire someone who would take away some of the annoying work so you can finally create that product, or be more visible, or get more clients, or think about how do you want to progress further in your business.

Then comes the objection: I just don’t have the budget to hire someone to help me out”.

Now, this is where I want you to hear me out.

Here is my take on how you can go about this situation:

  • Bite the bullet and hire someone to help you out. Think of it as an investment in your business. Just as you would think of a tool that you’re paying for on a monthly basis that helps you run your business, Think of outsourcing in the same way. You can get someone to help you on a recurring basis for approximately 5 hours a month (just an example). You can use those 5 hours a month to focus on making discovery calls to get you more clients and more income in return.
  • If you’re really, really on a tight budget and you can’t hire help on a regular basis – I suggest you outsource anyway. I know, you’re on a budget. Here comes the catch. Think about the whole process of what you’re trying to achieve (get more clients, be more visible, create a product) – then think about the most annoying part of that process. For example, let’s say you want to be more visible in groups and build relationships. For that, you’ll need to write content and create graphics to go along with it and then post in different groups. Can you look for someone to help you for 2 hours that month and create a few graphics? This way you’ve at least outsourced one part of it and it will feel less overwhelming and it’s not a recurring monthly commitment.
  • Suck it up, get over the “I-hate-doing-this-part-of-work” and do everything on your own, until you can get the budget for outsourcing
  • Do nothing and hope that somehow you’ll find time and motivation to do everything on your own.

What I’ve noticed is that, when someone takes away even the slightest weight off your shoulders, it can make you feel so liberated, inspired and motivated to continue instead of making you feel like giving up and asking yourself is it really worth it.
