Why most micro-business owners don’t have the capacity to quantum leap to & scale to a 7-figure business, a big team & a complex tech stack.
(And what to do about it & how to upgrade your energetic capacity).
Yes, it’s amazing to scale your online business to multiple 7-figures and enjoy the lifestyle that comes with that.
IF you can sustain it energetically and IF you have the capacity to handle & manage that level of responsibility.
Most micro-business owners don’t have that.
There is absolutely no judgment in this statement. It’s merely an observation.
If you need proof, just look at the countless burnt-out entrepreneurs who either found their way to the other end, scaled back and restructured their businesses…
Or those who closed down their businesses, and went back into employment because they just couldn’t find a way through the prickly circumstances.
And more power to them, because they recognised what was most needed at that moment.
They took action that brought income in and reduced the demands (on their nervous system) and the level of responsibility.
Most solopreneurs aren’t energetically set up to handle such a rapid uplevel.
Not only in terms of the uplevel of their lifestyle and financial situations…
But also an uplevel in terms of responsibilities and focus that the business needs.
They are not equipped for a quantum leap in the things they are receiving, and a quantum leap in the variety of responsibilities and change of dynamics.
Let’s face it – When you’re suddenly up-levelling your lifestyle and earning monthly income which you used to earn in a year, it is a result of huge mindset shifts and energetic upgrades.
With that level of personal and professional growth – inevitably, there will be changes in the dynamics within your personal relationships and business structure.
So when you combine such rapid uplevels with the lack of wider knowledge about business management that is needed, a gap in business growth skills, a lack of energetic capacity to deal with the increased demands… It is no wonder a lot of passionate, talented people ended up closing down their businesses.
It’s a recipe for a downward spiral.
✅ They were being prepared for a quantum uplevel to receive the material things and money.
📌 They were not prepared for the quantum uplevelling of responsibilities and a rapid change of family and business dynamics.
📌 Ill-prepared for the increase in decision-making and increased demand for knowledge across wider areas of business.
📌 Ill-prepared for managing money and not handling their impulsive shopping habits, fueled by the financial abundance movement that promoted “more, more, more”.
I saw it happening in front of my very own eyes, at the risk of being labelled as envious and having money mindset issues should I mention something.
While a huge chunk of big players advocated for “quantum leaps” (without discernment as to who it should apply to)…
I advocate, (and always have done), for a business pace that matches YOUR lifestyle desires, your level of energy, your caring responsibilities (kids or elderly parents), your nervous system capacity, your specific circumstances and your current level of business knowledge.
Uncover your true desires and wishes, and recognise from which energy you’re making decisions. So that when you make those decisions, they are done with love for yourself in mind, first and foremost.
Here is what you MUST take into account when considering whether quantum leaping to 7-figures business is a goal FOR YOU (if you don’t want to burn out doing it and if you’re focused on the longevity of your business):
📌 What do you actually, truly desire to experience vs what kind of lifestyle you’ve learned to desire by observing everyone else around you?
That takes some time to unpack. (And I’d be happy to help you work through that because this is my expertise.)
I’ve had many conversations over the years with peers telling me how much they felt pressured to aspire to a luxurious lifestyle and how much they judged themselves when considering something a little less luxurious.
It is the thing I helped my clients work through many times, to unpack and release the shame and self-judgement that came with that admission.
📌 What are your current energy levels?
Not what energy levels you desire, or what you’d have if you had fewer responsibilities.
Are you a neurodivergent person? Do your energy levels vary depending on other factors in your life?
Do your energy levels decrease when you’re overstimulated? Can you assure that you will be able to cut out the causes of overstimulation?
Take into account any chronic health conditions you might have and how much time and energy do you need to dedicate to manage it.
📌 What level of caring responsibilities do you have?
How likely are they to change in the future? Is there something you can do now to reduce them? Do you have elderly parents who have health issues and you’re a carer for? Are you a single parent or the default parent?
When you’re a default parent, especially when your kids are young, you are the person they will go to whenever they’re sick or they’re going through something.
I know how important it is for you to be there for your kid(s) and that the whole purpose of your business is to create a different life for them.
📌 What is your nervous system capacity?
Are you processing any major trauma at the moment? Are you doing deep inner work that requires time for reflection and your nervous system to regulate?
What most entrepreneurs fail to take into account, when they set goals for big uplevels, whilst also working with someone on their inner healing – is that healing takes time. And healing doesn’t happen on your time, it happens on it’s own time. It takes however long it takes.
When you’re doing deep work, a lot of suppressed stuff will come to the surface for resolution, and sometimes you will uncover trauma you were not aware of.
In most occasions, it is at the most inconvenient of times.
You’ve gotta give yourself the time and the attention you deserve to attend to it with care.
📌 What are your specific circumstances?
How many coaching programs, courses and masterminds have you committed to?
Are you at the point of making major life decisions? Are your relationship dynamics with your partner (or parents, siblings, or close friends) changing as a result of your spiritual growth and healing?
Have you uplevelled your mindset so much that it’s causing people around you to push back? Are you for the first time setting strong boundaries and people that are close to you are having a hard time adjusting to that and not cooperating?
How much are these new dynamics having an impact on your other responsibilities?
I find that when a woman, (that used to be a people-pleaser and didn’t make much of a “fuss” for others), steps into her power and starts setting strong boundaries – her partner, kids, or parents/siblings usually have a hard time adjusting to that change.
This causes friction in the relationships and, as such, it requires time and energy to attend to.
Whether we want to or not, for micro-businesses, what happens in personal life affects the business and we cannot pretend it is not intimately interconnected.
📌 What is your current level of business knowledge?
You are really good at what you do and you’re an expert in your field, passionate about making an impact – but you also wear other hats in your business.
When you’re making steady 20-30k months and you’re looking to scale to 7 figures and more, there are some other skills you’ll need.
You’ll go from being probably the only one in your business (or having one team member) to managing multiple team members and external temporary contractors.
What are your team management skills? How familiar are you with the technical stuff?
Even if you’re outsourcing the technical aspects of your business, the external contractors and team members will have questions for you that only you will be able to answer because you’re the decision-maker.
You’ll need to have at least a basic level of knowledge of how some platforms and technical solutions work in order to make informed decisions and get your ROI out of those platforms and the contractors you hired.
Do you have the time to look for reliable team members and external contractors?
I can’t tell you how many times I’ve seen amazing coaches skyrocketing their businesses, and then being pulled back and slowed down by the search for a reliable virtual assistant…
Or kicked off the tracks because they’re having horrendous experiences with service providers that they didn’t have the time to vet properly.
“So are you telling me that having a 7-figure business as a goal is not attainable?”
No, not at all. It is very much a possibility.
What I am saying is to have big aspirations and dreams, and at the same time, give yourself the best chance to achieve it.
Manifesting a dream life, uplevelling quickly, energy work and expanding our consciousness is so, so beautiful and powerful.
AND, at the same time, we live in a 3D physical world, with our physical bodies. We’re surrounded by other people who have their own consciousness and are on their own divine path, with their own divine desires.
We need to honour the current, and the physical, and allow our physical circumstances and our physical bodies the time they need to adjust.
How to upgrade your energetic capacity?
✳️ Learn to process your emotions quicker
Honour your emotions, allow them to flow through to you.
Actually feel them & learn how to regulate your nervous system quicker when you get dysregulated and come back to the neutral state.
Talking about your emotions and verbalising them is not the same as feeling your emotions. Intelectualising your emotions, over and over again, ruminating… blocks the processing of the emotion because you’re not feeling it.
✳️ Learn that it is ok not to give time to some emotions and frustrations.
To notice when you’re going into a pattern of dwelling on why a situation is happening, what it might mean and how you need to process it.
Acknowledge that this is a learning you’ve already mastered, you just need a quick reminder about it and move on.
✳️ Master your response to disagreements in relationships
Establish boundaries and act on it when they don’t get honoured.
Be a quicker decision maker when it comes to whether to let go of relationships that have come to the end of the season.
Learn to recognise the frustrations in relationships and act on them.
Either accept it as is or take a distance from that person. Stop wasting your time convincing others to change or be different, and be frustrated when they don’t.
✳️ Expand your capacity to feel safe
Improve your reaction time to changes. Learn to soothe yourself and make yourself feel safe quicker when going out of your comfort zone and doing new things.
✳️ Offload responsibilities that you can & ask for community support
Pace yourself and use the “scaffolding approach”. Start with one thing, then layer another change, then another, etc…
Drop the all-at-once or all-or-nothing approach. Release the shame that often goes hand in hand with the all-or-nothing attitude. You will notice how much quicker you’ll progress.
✳️ Give yourself the time for the circumstances to change & honour the process
Sometimes the biggest obstacle to expanding your capacity to deal with things is the lack of acceptance that things take time.
Stop rushing and give yourself the opportunity to enjoy every stage of growth.
Allow yourself to settle into each little uplevel and expansion you go through, as well as the beautiful experiences, aha moments, and learnings that they bring.
